Norris Rosener: ALL home theater systems should have an option for optical. All I see on the Bose Lifestyle 12 spec is an RCA connector. That means you're stuck with simulated surround. This isn't even a surround sound system. It's just 5 speakers with 2 channels of audio. That said, I see on Vizio's site that many of their TVs have RCA audio output. I guess yours doesn't though.
