Perry Deshazior: In a grocery store you can buy ANYTHING (although this may vary from state to state) that is an edible food item (except for ready to eat hot deli items). You can even buy fruit and vegetable seeds for planting. You can buy chips, soft drinks, candy, ice cream, etc. BUT you CANNOT get dish detergent, laundry detergent, toilet paper, etc. which really sux. I think they should be changed from FOOD stamps to NECESSITY stamps, as chips, ice cream, candy etc. are NOT necessities but detergent, toilet paper, etc. IS....Show more
Elva Batie: Yes, of course, that would be horrible if they didn't. All food and drinks are counted, except alcohol. Even soda counts!!! So baby food def does.
Kenneth Thuesen: Yes you can buy jars of baby food. Just try to save some for the baby :-) The peach one is really ! good!

Gaston Edgcomb: It may depend on the state, but here in DE, I've read that any nutritious, wholesome food is eligible.. obviously not gummy bears and soft drinks.. but things that are nutritious for their price.
